We’ve returned here year after year to see this site develop into one of the loveliest places to camp. The facilities are free including freezer block exchange, phone charge, play area, hot clean showers (I never queued even though the site was full!) plenty of toilets and a well stocked shop. Information about weather, tides, local events are displayed. There’s a hairdryer and sockets in the utility room if you’re needing to feel glam while you camp.

Huge flat spacious quiet pitches too! All this and a short stroll to the castle, quick 5 minute trip to Holt for supplies AND…… free hire of fire pits. No wonder we keep coming back!

Emma has done a cracking job, she works so hard and it’s paid off! X

  2. Melissa, Mags, Luke and Seren says:

We have just spent a week at Baconsthorpe and it’s definitely our favourite campsite to date.

Emma has created a lovely site – the separate meadows and hedges make it feel much more private than others we’ve been to. All the facilities are well planned, really organised and beautifully clean with enough toilets and showers to cater for everyone, even when the site is busy. Lovely areas for the kids to play in and a separate field for dog owners. Loads of space but nothing is too far away from the facilities.

To top it all off, it’s in an absolutely beautiful rural setting in gorgeous countryside and close to all the areas of North Norfolk that we know and love.

Emma couldn’t have been any more helpful, we wish her and her family all the best with the business (and with the harvest) and we will definitely be back in the future.

  3. Sarah says:

Spent 10 days at this site which is just fabulous! Facilities kept lovely and clean and never had to queue for shower. Thanks Emma for your help and advice with pubs and bike rides!

Great location for exploring and close to everything you need.

Would highly recommend this site as plenty of room, especially if you don’t need hook-up.

  4. The Cullen family says:

Enjoyed another great stay at Baconsthorpe Meadows – just 4 nights this time. Facilities even better than when we were here last year – loved the new showers & the covered washing-up facilities. We enjoyed having our part of the field to ourselves for most of our stay (plenty of space for the boys to play) & the fire pits were again one of the highlights! This is one of our favourite places to camp (& we’re very fussy!!) in one of our favourite parts of the country. Looking forward to returning again next year!

  5. Elaine and Wayne Bell says:

Peace and tranquility …. perfect camping, lovely clean toilets and showers. Great location for Holt, Sheringham, Cromer in the car. Some fab walks. I would highly recommend this camping site. We have booked again. Just love it

  6. Rebecca Lambley says:

We have just returned from a fabulous family camping trip, I don’t normally leave reviews but feel I really need to say what a wonderful site this is. A simple and proper campsite, lovely large spotless shower rooms with plenty of hot water, a great little ‘utilty’ room to freeze ice packs for FREE. We even borrowed, again for FREE, an electric cable as my husband had left ours at home!! And to top it of the Ealster bunny came and left eggs at each tent on Easter Sunday morning, a really special little touch. We just want to say thank you, we can’t wait to return 😁

  7. Sam and family says:

We had a fantastic fortnight here at the start of August 2016. The site was absolutely ideal for us with hot showers, hot water for washing up, laundry facilities, freezers, fire pits, large nice pitches, a shop, a separate field for dogs and peace and quiet after 10pm.
The kids had a wonderful time with all the other children on site and there was plenty of space for them to play around the playground area. The site had everything we could want and is in a lovely location with great beaches and places to visit nearby. There was even a short walk to a beautiful ruined castle.
Our thanks to Emma for all her effort and hard work. She appeared to be working 24/7 for the whole of our stay to keep everyone happy. She ensured everywhere was kept spotlessly clean and well maintained during our whole stay, manned the shop, loaned fire pits, games and books, provided a tourist information service and even a postal delivery for us! We couldn’t fault anything.
We don’t think we can find a more perfect site for our family so we have booked to return for two weeks in August 2017.

  8. Shelley says:

Yet another fabulous weekend over Halloween. Emma is the perfect host and the site is huge with lots of flat, stone free spaces for all kinds of tents. The weather was cold but the showers were HOT! and free!!

Quiet, peaceful site where the stars are easily seen from a light pollution free countryside location, all sorts of wildlife can be seen and heard.
Lovely little play area for the kids and a short trip to the beach in Sheringham, Cromer or Wells.

    We will be back!!

  9. Tim Wood says:

Back to basics, but all you need.
It might be worth noting that they do seem to accept trailer tents as well as there were a couple on site.
When I say back to basic that’s in no way a criticism. Lovely big camping fields. On a working farm and in a very rural setting. We loved it. Host Emma, opens reception for a couple of hours in the morning and a couple in the late afternoon. Reception includes free wi-fi and a little shop for essentials.
The showers and toilets are in porta-cabin type buildings but were well appointed and always really clean. Showers are free and hot water always plentiful, however the showers are fairly cramped.
There are an abundance of footpaths around the area and a 15 minute walk to Baconsthorpe Castle is well worth a visit.
Fire pits and log sales are a bonus, that we took advantage of.
    We will return.

  10. Heather Hopkins says:

Just come back from a lovely two weeks camping at Baonsthorpe. A lovely site and very family friendly. Plenty of room for small children to play and make friends and the family bathroom was an excellent facility.
All amenities were kept very clean and the quiet after 10pm rule was great for quietening things down. Would thoroughly recommend this site to other families.

  11. Wendy & Matt Cullen & fanily says:

Just spent a brilliant week camping at Baconsthorpe Meadows (our first full week & it couldn’t have been better)! Site was perfect for what we look for, with plenty of space, good facilities (the boys loved the fire pits!) & a lovely, helpful owner. Weather was great during our stay & it’s a good base from which to explore North Norfolk. Thank you, Emma, for making our stay so enjoyable! We will definitely be back!

  14. Debbie & Duncan says:

Just returned from our stay at Baconsthorpe. It could not have been more perfect. Beautiful site, extremely clean, peaceful, perfect location. Emma and her Dad are exceptionally welcoming, friendly, nothing was too much trouble for them, it’ was a pleasure talking to them. After visiting numerous sites in Norfolk no others compare, we will be returning without doubt. Thank you, Debbie & Duncan Kent.

  15. Karen and Dave says:

Just returned from a lovely week on this great site.
It has everything that you need but also keeps the open space farm camping that we hoped. We can highly recommend this site and will definatly return.
Many thanks to all concerned with this little gem of a site……your hard work is much appreciated

  16. Emma and Leigh says:

We have just enjoyed another lovely peaceful week here for our third year in a row. If you are wanting to get away from everything and get back to basics, this is definitely the place to go. We cannot recommend it highly enough for peace and relaxation.

  17. Sarah says:

Have had a lovely one night stay in my small camper van and 2 dogs. A very homely site and toilets and showers spotlessly clean. Plenty of hot water. Also use of a microvave in kitchen which also provides freezers. Made very welcome by Emma.
Had a 2 hour round walk the first evening (after the rain finally stopped )around the pretty village Hempstead and then at dawn the following morning a lovely walk up to Baconsthorpe castle, 20 mins from the site.
    Looking forward to returning .

  18. alison Martin says:

We had a fantastic weekend at Baconsthorpe Meadows. What fantastic facilities! The pitches are really large, which really gives a sense of space. We will definitely be coming back soon and highly recommend it as a beautiful place to stay.

  19. Malcolm Drury and Family says:

Had 4 wonderful nights at Baconsthorpe meadows, facilities are excellent, everyone we met was friendly and Emma was extremely helpful offering us advice on where we could take our dogs on the beach. My daughter loved how campfires were allowed on the site as a lots of sites we have stayed at don’t allow them. This was a rare treat since she never cooks at home and cooked all our meals on the campfire/BBQ! The location is central so excellent for visiting all the surrounding areas easily. Would defiantly recommended it to friends and family, It was that good were booking again for August!

  20. Karen Collins, Lee, Jack & Kiera Fitzsimmons and Sophie says:

We had a lovely time over the Spring bank holiday weekend in May. What a great site with everything we needed. A lovely relaxing stay. Lovely hot showers (though a little cramped!) and facilities very clean.

Electric pitch up and a camp fire each evening to keep us warm as it was quite chilly. Loads of space even though it was fully booked. There’s covered washing up facilities as well as a launderette, freezer and a microwave. A great play area for the children which our son loved.

A lovely location with Baconsthorpe Castle a short walk away – we rode there on our bikes. Well worth a visit.

Had an interesting time taking down our family tent as it was very windy on Monday- it nearly took off!

I would highly recommend this site and we’ll definitely be returning. Emma and her family were very welcoming and helpful. Thanks very much for a lovely weekend. I had to make a last minute change as my step-daughter decided to come and bring her friend but it certainly wasn’t a problem when I phoned Emma a few days before to ask if we could put up an extra 2 man tent for the girls to have their own space. She couldn’t have been more helpful. Thanks. We all had a great time.

  21. Adam Richards says:

My friend and I had a lovely 2 night stay on the electric hookup pitches. Emma was super welcoming and helpful and the facilities were top notch – I had to ask was it all new! I can’t wait to come back thanks a lot.

  22. Anna and Guy says:

The campsite is nicely situated for Holt and the coastal villages.

The walk to the local castle is worth doing for the castle and the bird life on the Mere ( we saw a Barn owl).

The facilities were well thought out and very clean…everything I needed and I am quite particular!

The owners daughter was very helpful we followed her recommendations for places to eat locally which were both great.

We will recommend this site to friends and hope to return .

  23. The White family says:

This is one of the best site we have been to lots of space for grandkids to run around showers red hot and washing up area water hot never run cold like on a lot of sites toilets always clean and while we weren’t there it was raining so a lot of muddy boots but toilets and showers always clean Emma who runs the site can’t do enough for youwill be going back soon

  24. Diane,Mike,Will,Ed & Sam says:

Our first visit to Norfolk and could not have wished for a better campsite. Great location, facilities extremely clean and area well maintained. Thank you for a lovely stay!

  25. Dave Harris says:

I came up here for Easter weekend. Found this campsite to be lovely. Facilites were clean and spotless. Emily the owner is a very nice person who cannot do enough to help you. The one thing as owners, they cannot control the weather. I booked for 3 nights, but packed up a day early due to the impending arrival of storm Kate. I did not fancy taking my tent (or what would have been left of it) down in those winds. One thing is for sure, this campsite is one of th best i have seen in the area and from now on will be my only port of call when i come back to Norfolk. Anyone going to Norfolk should without doubt condider here as a place to camp.

  26. Shelley and Family says:

We come to Baconsthorpe several times a year during busy times and quiet and never once have we been dissapointed. Emma works 24/7 (quite literally) to keep the site clean and tidy, welcoming visitors and stocking up on wood for our fires. Loads of flat grassed stone free fields for pitches, campfires and quiet after 10 pm. Lovely clean hot showers, well stocked toilets and again, despite this weekend being full to bursting were clean with plenty of loo roll and hand wash. When full there’s plenty of room between pitches and not anything like other sites we’ve been to that resemble a refugee camp with tents on top of each other!!

Nearby you have Holt with a supermarket or leave the car behind to walk to the ruins or around the village and wooded areas stocked with wildlife and flowers.
    We will be back soon!!!

  27. Gwen Dent says:

We have just come back this evening after a week at this campsite which we just found by chance on the internet. For us, the attraction was the ability to have an open camp fire in the evening and the ability to pitch two tents with our two teenagers with plenty of room and a non commercial site which was quiet at night. Well, this is by far the best campsite in this area of Norfolk (and we have stayed in a few over the years). The pitch size was awesome, the wildlife abundant, the facilities were really practical and ever so clean. It has everything you want for a relaxing holiday (good hot showers, really private clean toilets with plenty of loo rolls and air fresheners as well! Plenty of freezers (and you don’t have to pay to freeze your ice packs which is becoming rare), a microwave, washing machines, even an area with table and hairdryer and mirror…etc. The shop is well stocked with basics at very affordable prices and they even have an area where you can borrow the crab fishing lines and buckets which was brilliant after arriving on our first day. Booking was efficient and you really feel that thanks to Emma ( with a little help with Mum and Dad) who runs the site, that she really cares about the people staying on her site and wants it as welcoming as possible and for excellent value for money too. This is a really really lovely place to stay and all in our party are missing its atmosphere already. We shall be back there for sure for our next Norfolk adventures. Thank you all at Baconsthorpe Meadows for making our holiday so special x.

  28. Ashleigh and Richard says:

The best campsite we have stayed at by miles. Everything was perfect – flat fields with loads of space, excellent facilities, great little shop with everything you could need and a lovely owner. Emma couldn’t have been more helpful or friendly.
The site is lovely and peaceful and the surroundings are beautiful. We were sad to leave (after staying longer than we had planned) and will definitely be back. Thanks for a fantastic week.

  29. Leanne & Keith Watt says:

Thanks so much for 2 great weeks of relaxation at your campsite. Flexibility and trust made it such a lot of fun for us and our children. Thanks for cleaning up the toilet and shower blocks so often and keeping the grass so tidy. See you again soon !

  30. Vivianne and Neil says:

Perfect campsite- spacious with really clean amenities with the little details thought of. Other sites could learn a thing or two from the setup. Will be coming back again. Thanks 🙂

  31. Emma and Leigh says:

Second year in a row we’ve visited this site and we will be returning year after year from now on. You couldn’t get a more lovely and quiet site to get away from the slog of the working life.

  32. Mark and Sarah Byrne says:

Just got back from staying here for 10 days. We absolutely love this place, it is our little haven – our bolt hole away from hassle!
This is the fourth time we have been since September and would be there far more often if we could!
Emma and her Mum and Dad who run the campsite couldn’t be more helpful if they tried. Nothing is too much trouble.
Everything is lovely and clean with nice warm showers. Great pitches with lots of space for freedom with children.
Can’t rate this site and the owners high enough, we love it!!!!
Looking forward to the possible electric hookup next April though, gets a bit chilly in the evenings. Electrical hookup means we can stay up in the evenings a bit later with a heater instead of going to bed at 9pm. 🙂
Although this is a friendly family site it is so peaceful. No radios or tv’s or even noisy roads.
Plenty of farm life though and bird and wildlife. Great stuff!!!!

  33. Nick Sida says:

Lovely campsite. had 3 great nights camping….it’s the small touches herbs to use outside the reception hut.We will return I hope it stays as relaxed and well run.

  34. Terry Hill says:

I would highly recommend this site, we (2 adults, 1 child and 1 dog) were squeezed in at the last minute, the communication was very quick and extremely helpful and accommodating.

I completely agree with all of the reviews that the welcome was very warm and friendly. There is a lot of very useful information in the onsite office.
    / shop.

The site is very well laid out, incredibly clean and the facilities are of a great quality. It was very evident that the little things had been thought through, I particularly liked the supplied fire pits. The pitches are level and well maintained with lots of access to water etc.

We took our dog with us and again there were facilities for cleaning up after the dog and ample areas to go for walks.

The location is fantastic for accessing the coast and Holt is very close and has everything a camper could wish for.

Thank you for your hospitality and we look forward to returning.

  35. Maria says:

Fantastic camp site, clean, quiet, easy access to countryside and coast. Super host, we will be back Emma!

  36. Katie & Andy Stewardson says:

Stayed a second time and brought our 2 year old daughter with us. we were testing out our new campervan. Emma was very welcoming and was happy to see us returning. The new park was very much enjoyed by our daughter. Lovely trip over the weekend April 2015, would highly recommend to anyone, such a beautiful place to stay with lovely and very friendly owners. Will be coming again for a 3rd time.
    Thank you

  37. Mrs Stewardson says:

My husband and I came to Baconsthorpe Meadows for our honey moon we stayed for 3 nights July 2014, and it was beautiful.
Brought back a lot of our child hood memories of camping trips.
The facilities were very clean and in great condition, we will definatley be coming again this year.
Emma was so welcoming and the little shop was perfect for our needs.
    Well recommended
    Thank you Emma

    Mr and Mrs Stewardson

  38. Becky, Makr & Emily says:

Please will everyone stop adding comment we want to keep this perfect campsite to ourselves!!! Been coming for the last 3 years and every year it gets better. And despite telling my 4 year old we are going again, she cries all the way home!!

Thank you to Emma and her lovely Mother for making our holidays. See you in 2015 xx

P.S I have managed to convince Mark a 12 Man Montana is not practical.

  39. wendy milsom says:

Only stayed for two nights to visit family nearby but absolutely loved it. We were made to feel extremely welcome (including the dog!) and the facilities were superb and so clean. It was lovely to sit round the fire in peace and quiet and look at the stars. We will definitely be back again.

  40. magz,alex and millie says:

    Aug 22nd
After deciding last minute to travel to Norfolk for the weekend for millies 9th birthday we were really pleased that Emma squeezed us in at 5pm. She was so welcoming and could not be more helpful, we knew on arrival just how nice and friendly this site was going to be. The site has everything required, more importantly the toilets and showers kept clean and the water was hot at all times. Washer, dryer, freezer, hairdryer, fire pits, logs. Basic camping made bearable for the non camper. The 10.00 quiet time seemed a bit restrictive but to tell the truth it worked and everyone respected the ruling at no detriment to anyone, more sites should be like this, especially on the nights when it is darker earlier. All in all a great stay and we even got a second night due to Emma’s hospitality, so thank you Emma! Also a big thankyou for coming back to the site to retrieve my phone after you had gone home, that’s service. We have already told our friends and family about your site and will be looking forward to returning next year.

  41. Creeth Croft Clan says:

We’re just back from an amazing weeks stay and loved every minute! I can only echo what the other reviews say – it’s fab!

Reasonably priced, amazing amount of space, HOT water in the showers and washing up, on demand, all day long! Clean facilities, never a lack of soap or loo roll. Fires allowed, logs for sale, lovely people. Flat fields all slightly separate from each other so no camping on top of others. All in all the best site we’ve ever been to and we will be back!

  42. Beth says:

Just returned from a lovely weekend camping. The site is huge with plenty of space so feels very open! The loos and showers were great, really clean and hot showers. A lovely welcome and great extras such as freezers, phone charging and fire pits. Would reccommend if you are looking for a quite and relaxed site!

  43. Lynn Butler says:

As far as we are concerned, Baconsthorpe is the best camp site in Norfolk. Thank you Emma, once again our camping experience was very peaceful, relaxing and we had everything on site that we needed. It is the 3rd year we have visited and have never had a reason to fault anything.

  44. Julie, Simon and Hawley the Cocker says:

We have just returned from a really lovely stay and experienced nearly every type of weather imaginable from thunder storms to blazing sunshine. Emma and her parents where so helpful even providing a map to help us navigate the 40 minute walk to local pub. I would highly recommend Baconsthorpe Meadows Campsite, campsites don’t get much better than this!

  45. Teresa & Arthur says:

We just had a fantastic weeks break here at Beconsthorpe meadows, Emma and team kept the toilets/shower blocks very clean and tidy { Hand dryers that work, plenty of toilet roll and soft soap } Emma and team were very friendly and they couldn’t do enough to help make our stay a very pleasant one. There is even wifi for those that need or want it, there is a washing machine and tumble dryer, also hair dryers for the lady in your life.. { or man }, and two freezers for your use and a small shop with a few basics.
The pitches are lovely and flat with soft ground { rock pegs not needed }, no caravans or electric hook ups at this site so the ground wasn’t churned up. The site was never over crowded and was very quiet even when the bank holiday started when some 65 family’s turned.
We would recommend this site if you wish a quiet pleasant rural camping holiday in North Norfolk.

  46. Shelley, Ben and Floyd the dog. says:

Just returned from our second visit, felt like coming home when we drove up the gravel drive to the campsite. Emma and Mum and Dad make excellent hosts, helpful, informative and nothing was too much trouble.

The site: 5 fields, loads of space to camp alone or in small family groups. 2 fields for dog owners too!! Clean facilities with lots of hot water in the showers and in the covered pot wash area. There’s a handy laundrette area complete with microwave and hair dryer and baby change.

No EHU which meant quiet after 10, with folks settling next to their campfires (available on site with firewood to buy so no foraging!) and chance to stare at the clear night skies. Site is soft ground mostly flat so easy to pitch up, and well drained we discovered, when the heavens opened! When the holes in the path filled with water, Richard came along and filled hem straight away… Now that’s service!!

Within a short drive to Holt, Sheringham, Cromer, Wells and Norwich it’s perfectly located. However if you abandon your car and walk there is Baconsthorpe Castle nearby and fields and woods to explore!

We will be back a third time, one of the best we’ve been to, and we’ve been to a few!!! Thank you Emma and Family for another wonderful weekend x

  47. Sarah, Rob and Henry says:

Just wanted to say a huge thanks to Emma and Co for a fabulous Easter Weekend. We were warmly greeted by Emma personally even though we had arrived late after Reception hours.

Plenty of space, dog walking options literally on the doorstep, clean toilets, warm FREE showers and great washing-up facilities.

A lovely touch to wake up on Easter morning to find that the Easter bunny had paid a visit 🙂

    We will definitely be back!

  48. April 2014 – Thank you Emma (and lovely mum!) for a really enjoyable stay on your lovely campsite!
Very warm welcome from both Mum and Emma (the owner) who were extremely friendly & helpful and a wealth of information about the local area.
Baconsthorpe Castle only a 15 minute walk from the campsite via the bridal path (thank you for telling us about the shortcut Emma!) – very picturesque !
Holt approx. a 15-minute drive away , Cromer 20-minute drive & Norwich approx.30 minutes ,so ideally situated for exploring North Norfolk.
Thankfully off the beaten track so very peaceful location.
No electric hook-ups makes for a quiet campsite without Satellite dishes, blaring TV’s ,etc, which spoils many sites we have stayed on in the past!
It also reduces the light pollution making the campsite nice and dark at night so ideal for stargazing !

Well-kept campsite with large pitches and more than ample room for 53 campers! Nice level ground too!
Separate areas for dog owners a nice idea , Charlie our Dachshund loved being near other doggy friends!

The new shower & toilet blocks are kept immaculately clean day & night (loo roll in abundance!) and hand wash provided -lovely hot water always!
Separate room with sink, washing machine and tumble dryer -large freezer too with freezer packs -absolutely ideal!
Our only suggestion was possibly a microwave for defrosting our still frozen BBQ items !

Lovely restful stay -thoroughly enjoyed by all four of us – we will certainly stay here again and definitely recommend it to our friends!
and what a wonderful surprise to find the Easter Bunny had visited the campsite on Easter morning and left chocolate eggs – our daughter was absolutely thrilled!!

Thank you once again and see you soon!

  49. Osbourn Family says:

We have just come back from a lovely camping holiday at this lovely site. Emma and her family were very helpful, very accommodating and worked hard to ensure that the families staying were well cared for. We loved that the camp had lots of space to pitch a tent and space for the children to play. With young children it was great that the site had a quite policy from 10.00 pm. Children could sleep and the adults could sit under the stars with a camp fire enjoying the peace and quite. We would highly recommend this site to others if you like traditional camping with clean basic facilities. We loved not having a TV and other electrical devises so we could take time to enjoy each other’s company. We had a lovely relaxing time and can not wait to go back.

  50. David Lodge says:

Myself and a group of friends stayed here over the Bank Holiday weekend and have to say the site owners went the extra mile no matter what – The toilets and showers were cleaned regularly, what made it even better was the fact I was able to charge my phone/Ipad and know that it was safe is a great relief – I would highly recommend this site to anyone – we will definitely be back

  51. David and Sheila Vallance says:

This is a truly delightful campsite. It combines quiet simplicity in the actual camping areas with some home comforts in the form of lovely hot showers and decent toilets. Like others we had a very warm welcome from Emma. There was plenty of space for the 20-ish tents that were there and everyone else seemed to be miles away. The site will easily cope with more campers without appearing busy. We’ll definitely be back soon – N. Norfolk is a part of England we didn’t know well and 4 days was just a taster.

  52. Marina says:

We had a lovely weekend here a few weeks ago, and booked again for August. I agree with all before, it’s delightfully clean, beautifully organised and Emma is so kind. Tiny little details (like selling marshmallows to toast, with sticks, hose on the water tap, weather details pinned up near the washing up area, etc) are such a thoughtful touch. I love that it’s a real campsite no electric etc, there are so few sites left like this. We loved the easy walk to the castle, as did our children 6 and 9.
This is our idea of the perfect campsite.
Emma told us about the festival in Holt (probably wouldn’t have known about it otherwise) which was probably one of the most memorable things I have seen in my 50 odd years (Galdini jugglers and the Belgian acrobats jumping in, out over and under a caravan).

  53. Becky and Jacob says:

Had a lovely weekend, plenty of space and could pitch wherever you pleased. Quiet and relaxed, with good showers and toilets. The two major highlights for us were being able to have your own campfire and the beautiful sunsets! Great memories for us! Thank you.

  54. "Olley" Group says:

First stay at Baconsthorpe – Beautifully maintained site, flat fields, piping hot (clean) showers, washing up facilities with hot water at all times. free phone etc charging (a must for camping with teens!) and use of plug sockets for hairdryers and straighteners… A lovely, relaxed site – very welcoming owners – a gem of a site. A no caravan/campervan site is almost unheard of – wonderful to be able to camp without being surrounded by satellite dishes, televisions etc etc.

  55. Matt Butt says:

Another great time had at Baconsthorpe Meadows,

    Thanks Emma,

Look forward to the new shower/toilet block.

    Thanks Again,
    Matt,Liz,Luke and Becca

  56. Shelley Tier says:

Emma was a delight to communicate with and the booking went without a hitch, despite my needing to change it slightly at the last minute. The campsite is basic and in its infancy (only opened last year) but that didn’t spoil it one bit!!

It wasn’t busy, only a few tents pitched up which was great as there is only 3 female toilets and 2 female showers, and 1 family shower unit. I expect there will be more as they get established. There was plenty of space and would be even when busy, there are hawthorn bushes planted and this time next year the wind protection will be top notch!!

There is a little shop that is open in the morning and again in the evening stocking all the essentials, including firewood and starters to supply your own campfire, they even provide wheel rims to put your fire in!! Fabulous, as the weather was damp and miserable so the fires made up for the cold! We didnt take our dog but they’re welcome and the area for tents with dogs is kept seperate from the rest of the campers which was a nice touch as kids didnt upset the animals and dogs didnt upset the campers.

Plus points: Space, location, reception and undercover washing facilities, showers (HOT and CLEAN!!)and information about the local area and weather was a nice touch, freezer for ice blocks

Could do better: More showers and toilets for when you’re busy? and please dont cut the grass at half 7 in the morning? Perhaps a childrens play area eventually?

Would I go again? Most definately and I would recommend this site highly. Thank you Emma

      Dear Shelley,

Thank you very much for your very valuable feedback. I am pleased to hear we are on the right tracks.

I am very sorry about the grass cutting at 7.30am – I have been assured by the contractor that it will not been done at this time in the future.

We have 8 showers, 2 ladies and 2 family showers on one side and 2 men’s and 2 more ladies on the other.

We are aiming to build a permanent toilet/shower block this winter.

I am very pleased you had a lovely stay and I hope we will see you again.

We stayed for a few nights last August bank holiday and had an amazing time. Not only is the welcome fantastic but the site is well thought out and the facilities very clean and well looked after.
It is a lovely location and perfect for getting away from everything. The walk to Baconsthorpe castle is well worth doing and the local town of Holt has everything you could want. We found this a great base for exploring East Anglia.
Would recommend this campsite, and we look forward to visiting again soon.

We (me, my daughter and two grandsons) stayed at the site from 24/8 to 30/8 – very impressed. Lovely site – beautiful setting. Loved the fact we could have a campfire – and the shop stocked firewood and marshmallows (complete with skewers) which were much enjoyed by the grandsons!!! Would heartily recommend the site and look forward to visiting it again.

My friend Ian and myself (and our Harleys) were made very welcome by Emma. We spent a couple of nights on the site. A little gem tucked into the country side of Norfolk. Very tranquil and peaceful (no noisy main roads to contend with at night). A lovely campsite, very clean and tidy with lots of space. We spent out last night chatting by a camp fire. Would definitely recommend this camp site to my friends.

Just returned from a fabulous weekend at this site. Thank you Emma and co. for making us feel most welcome. The excellent facilities include very clean toilets and shower blocks and the shop stocks all the essentials including firewood and even marshmallows that come with free skewers! (they really have thought this through!) there is a lovely walk up to the nearby baconsthorpe castle and plenty of space to walk dogs. The campsite feels well established considering it is so ‘young’ and the owners are very open to comments and suggestions from their guests. I have to say that (quite selfishly) i almost didn’t leave feedback for fear of this ‘little Gem’ becoming too popular and overbooked! Keep up the good work! We can’t wait to return.

We had a lovely stay at Baconsthorpe Meadows last weekend. The campsite was great with lots of space, in a beautiful rural setting and campfires allowed!

The staff were friendly and very helpful and the well stocked shop and good, clean facilities were much appreciated. A short walk over to the Baconsthorpe castle is also worth doing.

We would recommend this campsite for anyone looking for a quiet break and we’re already looking forward to returning again.

Wishing you all the best for the future.

We had the pleasure of being the first campers on this beautiful site and what a treat it was! The welcome couldn’t have been warmer – we even had a bottle of champagne to celebrate the sites official opening!! The facilities are all great, (we especially appreciated the family shower)and the site itself is fantastic. Loads of space, soft, flat ground, campfire pits and the most friendly owners you could ask for. Every effort was made to provide everything we needed, right down to a little room for hair dryers. Truly a absolute gem of a find. Thanks Emma, thanks Mark. I have no doubt you will do fantastically well, I would recommend it to anyone and we really look forward to our next visit!

We arrived on fri 3rd august and were met and welcomed by a very lovely Emma. We were very unfortunate to have to put our tent up in a heavy downpour but this did not dampen our spirit!. We found the facilities (showers and toilets) to be very clean and tidy. We had a very nice relaxing break and looking forward to another visit before the end of the season. We would recommend this campsite to anybody who is looking for a quiet, relaxing break.
